Barn Find Project – 1930 Sport Coupe (Disassembled)
Looking for someone in the Model A community who wants a project. This is a true barn find: a 1930 Sport Coupe that was completely disassembled by its previous owner, who sadly can no longer complete the restoration. I’m currently taking inventory, and while not every part is pristine, it appears that nearly everything is here including original Landau Bars and seats coils. The body has no collision damage, though it will need lower sections replaced—best done by someone comfortable with welding. There’s a small depression in one door and on the rumble seat cover, and the drip channel above the rumble seat needs some attention. A new wood kit is included with the body.
Once I clear a fig tree that’s grown in front of the barn doors, I’ll have access to the frame and associated parts. The engine turns freely, and the mains check out fine—it should run with little effort. This isn’t a profit-making venture for me. I’d simply like to see this car saved from the scrap heap and back on the road where it belongs. California is not cost effective for the body work at $150-$200 per hour, and my welding skills have 40 years of rust.
If you’re looking for your next Model A adventure, I have been told the Sport Coupe is one to take on. I am open for suggestions on cost and I can build crates for shipping parts. Not shown are many of the small parts like window registers, latches, plates, hinges and original body blocks.
