Model A Production - New Zealand

Data Provided by
Justin Bicknell
, April 99

The majority of Model As imported into New Zealand were imported from Ford of Canada in CKD (Completely knocked down) form and assembled at the Colonial Motor Company's plants at Auckland, Wellington, and Timaru. Evidence suggests that there were also a small number of imports from Manchester and Dagenham in England and also some private imports.

*1 The 1928 Roadster figures do not differentiate between rumble or non rumble seat

*2 There were no imports from Ford of Canada in 1931, although the New Zealand Parts Book lists specific 1931 parts and priced them accordingly. They also turn up on cars, e.g. Radiator surrounds, side bowl carburetors etc.
