Chapter Chatter May-June 2024

Like many MAFCA members across this country we have a number of folks from my local group that are preparing to make their way to Ruidoso, NM. for this year’s National Convention and that includes me. Along with my duties as a director I will also be carrying along items to add to the raffle room on behalf of my local chapter. These contributions help add to the success of events like the convention and the National Awards Banquet.  I would like to thank all the chapters for supporting the convention by their attendance and their contributions to the raffle room and the event itself. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there. I would like to express my personal thanks to the entire Southwest Aventures group for this undertaking. We will all be the beneficiaries of their hard work and dedication.

Last year at this time I was hard at work on expanding the recognition for our Chapters who have achieved 50 years membership in MAFCA. By a unanimous vote of the board beginning this year any chapter who has achieved this honor will have a permanent marker in the form of an inscribed brick placed at the Model A Ford Museum in Hickory Corners. Brick number one being for our first chapter from Bakersfield CA. This permanent reminder will be an added attraction to an already outstanding destination. The first 100 bricks will be in place in time for you to see at this year’s Model A Days, September 20-21st.. If your chapter has been recognized for this honor I would like to encourage you to attend this year’s event and see your clubs brick as well as all the other great activities during these 2 days. The added benefit to this trip is the support you will give to the Model A Ford Foundation or MAFFI.

I was very proud bring forth two new chapters for approval at our February board meeting. The ARK-LA-TEX A’s which are based out of Shreveport, LA. and the Mid State A’s based about an hour north of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. This group has been established for a number of years but not aligned with a national club. Welcome aboard!

I hope to see you and your “A” on the road.
