President’s Message – March 2025

“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”
— Henry Ford

I love this quote, found on the Dallas Model A Ford Club’s website. It meant so much back in Henry’s day, for his workforce to come together and then work together. And it is just as valuable today as then. Let’s face it, good sayings are worth repeating, great sayings are worth writing down and truly great sayings are worth doing.

And so it is with the Model A Club of America, just as portrayed on the DMAFC’s website. It is a pleasure to work with folks all over this country and even the world, in bringing off great events such have been accomplished in the past, by members of the Model A community. Whether National or Regional Tours, Conventions or Swap Meets, our people know how to do it right; and of course, we know where the best restaurants are! With this in mind, a big Thank You goes to all our membership for promoting and spreading the love we all have of ‘Henry’s Lady’.

Speaking of thankfulness: Many of you may have heard of the 1931 Victoria Sedan stolen from the garage of deceased member Bob Schmitt in Grants Pass, Oregon. Word spread quickly through our website and social media and it was recovered within a week with only minor dings and scratches. A huge Thank You to John Firth and those who spread the word and contributed to its recovery. This just goes to show the value of the World Wide Web… It could have been a much worse outcome!

And with that reference to the MAFCA website, you’ll note it is still a work in progress. We have received many emails and phone calls from members with comments on the website and are taking all these into consideration as we continue to develop and improve. Rest assured that it will be a key topic of discussion at our next Board meeting. And thanks to our Board of Directors, past and present, who are assisting in its design and content. We truly appreciate the work that our webmaster, Peter Gariepy, and website liaison, Happy Begg, are doing to bring this about.

Finally, another plug for the 2025 MAFCA National Tour to the Battlefields of Virginia and surrounding areas, hosted by the Dallas Chapter in Texas. Many of us are looking forward to this event with great anticipation. Registration is still ongoing and forms can be found on the Dallas Chapter’s website. And more info can be found in this edition of the Restorer, so mark your calendars and we’ll see you in Virginia!
