President’s Message – March 2026

As you read this issue of  The Restorer magazine I would like to call your attention to the year 1956.  1956 represents a significant year for the formation of MAFCA as we know it today.  In February 1956 we held our first Annual Business Meeting where Art Miller was elected as our first President.  Over the years this annual business meeting has become our National Awards Banquet (NAB) where the new Board of Directors are installed.  1956, May to be exact, also saw the first issue of The Restorer magazine published under the supervision of President Art Miller, who eventually did move to the position of editor in 1957.

Jumping forward seventy years to 2026 MAFCA has grown to over 260 national and international chapters.  Their members continue to enjoy our award-winning magazine, The Restorer and enjoy both local and national events.

Speaking of national events, it has been four years since our last convention, as our 2024 planned event in Ruidoso, NM was cancelled due to devastating fires.  So, I am excited about the upcoming 2026 national convention in Pendleton, OR. Pendleton is located at the foothills of the Blue Mountains and is a beautiful area for touring in your Model A.  Jack Remillard and his team are finalizing their plans to make this a convention to remember. Be sure to mark your calendar to join in on the fun and check out the latest information in this issue.

Also in 2026, I am also pleased to report that the MAFCA/MARC members of the Judging Standards Committee are doing the final check of Revision 5 of the Judging Standard & Restoration Guidelines. This revision will provide more details and in color and will be available for purchase very soon. This should be one of your primary reference books to have in your Model A library.

I and the 2026 Board of Directors are eagerly looking forward to making 2026 a memorable year.  We are focused on providing you with the best services and benefits possible, while at the same time have fun with our Model A’s.  Feel free to contact anyone of us if you have any questions.  Happy Model A’ing.
